Fall 2018 is almost upon us! I know that's hard to think about considering it's only July, but Summer always seems to know how to fly right by.

As promised, this week we will be shining our spotlight on a new addition to our store from the Fall 2018 season.

It is a Maggie Sottero gown by the name "Jolynn".

Well, it has certainly been a hot minute since we've shined our spotlight on one of our beautiful bridal gowns.

But, we are also more excited than ever to share them with you! Over the next few months, we will slowly begin to receive new gowns for the Fall 2018 season.

While we will still shine on our gowns from the past year, we really can't wait to show you all the new looks from our designers!

Whew! Congrats to all of our brides who made it through their wedding weekend in record-breaking temps! We sure hope they were well hydrated and had a good time despite the heat!

On to another gown of the week, let's visit with Maggie Sottero's Meryl! This ballgown is stunningly detailed and it happens to be one of my personal favorites from our whole selection! Maggie sure did a great job with this one!

Meryl is a vintage inspired ballgown, featuring lace appliques that overlay a Swiss Dot Tulle and organza. These materials give this gown a touch of whimsy, while still maintaining a classic bridal feel. Other noticeable features of this gown are the V-neck straps, square back, and Swarovski crystals which add just enough shimmer for an out-of-this-world look! Can you believe it has been almost a week since the royal wedding??

We here at Bridal Event have been loving all of the media concerning weddings and specifically the gown and accessories! And the 16 foot veil?? Did anyone see that coming? The more we see, the more we love! Loved the dress? Hated the dress? Let us know in the comments below!

Here we are again! Has it really been a week already?

Kendall is officially married and it sounds like she's bringing some un-Spring-like weather back with her! I guess we can't really hold it against her... but we can be jealous of her tan!

Well, despite the impending weather, we are warming up to this gorgeous gown by MoriLee.

MoriLee is a staple designer for us-they have several bridal lines, including Julietta where we get this beautiful gown!

Julietta is a gorgeous line of gowns designed specifically for our curvier brides.

Style #3133 stuns us with a dazzling sweetheart neckline featuring just enough sparkle- the alencon (ah-lans-on) lace covering the bodice and dropping down onto the skirt gives this gown a flair of tradition.

The satin belt sits perfectly to accent the bride's curves!

MoriLee Julietta #3133 is available in both white and ivory. Both color options will feature the same silver beading.

The question has been popped, the bride’s tribe notified, and a date tentatively set.

The next step?

Yes, the thing most brides dream of...

The Dress.

It must highlight the bride’s personality and style, without completely overpowering her or being horribly uncomfortable.

So, she has the vision and we have the dresses.

In order for this process to be as stress-free as possible, here are some etiquette tips for the bride-to-be and her crew to follow whilst searching for the perfect dress!

1. To Make Or Not Make An Appointment

This one is pretty straight-forward.

If the store requires appointments to shop for wedding gowns, make one!

Luckily, The Bridal Event does not take appointments and works on a walk-in basis for shopping.*

Most stores will say whether or not they take appointments on their websites, so be sure to check there and save yourself a call!

*Please note that though The Bridal Event does not take appointments, Saturdays do tend to be the busiest days and depending on when you arrive there may be a bit of a wait.

2. Be Mindful Of Your Entourage

We love that the bride wants to share this moment with her friends and family, but most bridal floors will not have the room to accommodate every bridesmaid, both sets of grandmothers, two cousins and one great-aunt Helen.

If possible, keep the group small.

Bring the people whose opinions you value the most, because opinions will be voiced; and they can either make or break your shopping experience.

In addition to this tip, it is encouraged to leave small children at home.

While children are wonderful and are a special part in every bride's day, the shopping day's focus should be on the bride and her search for her dream gown.

Shopping can be a full day excursion, especially if the bride and her group go to more than one store, and this can tire those kiddos out pretty fast.

So save yourself some tears and hungry tummies, and give your favorite babysitter a call.

3. Be Open About Your Specific Budget

If there is a budget you would like to stay within, please let us know before we jump right into the shopping process!

Every wedding is unique, and your budget shouldn't restrict you from finding that perfect dress.

Letting the consultant know what you’re looking for in terms of style and budget will help them to find gowns that match your vision and financial needs.

Trust us to help you navigate our inventory!

4. It’s Never Too Early To Order

A year is probably the average amount of time brides give themselves in terms of ordering a dress- which is great!

The recommended time for ordering a gown is 8-9 months before your wedding.

This can feel like forever, but we promise, there's a method to the madness.

It takes about 6 months for the dress to be made and shipped to the store; thus, allowing for the two remaining months to be used for alterations.

Consultants will almost always say that you can never order a dress too early, but you can always order a dress too late.

Another thing to keep in mind are discontinuations.

Styles get discontinued all the time, and that dress that you fell in love with but wanted to wait to order could become unavailable overnight.

Discontinuations aren't something we are given a heads-up on. We get the notice and that's it.

We don't want to scare you- we just want you to be informed on everything that comes with ordering your bridal gown!

Additionally, if your wedding is in three months, don’t expect to be able to order a brand new dress in that amount of time.

Quality work takes time- and you don't want to have to rush your bridal gown.

The Bridal Event does allow off-the-rack purchases, and our excellent alterations staff can help fit the dress to your one of a kind shape.

We will work to ensure you can acquire the gown perfect for you. The Bridal Event hasn't missed a wedding in the 30+ years we've been open.

5. Remember... Your Consultant Is Human

Your consultant wants to help you the best they can, but if they aren't given the chance they won’t be able to help you find your dream dress!

Let them do their jobs- they are specifically trained to help you through this big, once-in-a-lifetime decision.

At The Bridal Event, we help with every step of the process; from selecting gowns to sample, helping you try them on, and assisting in choosing the best accessories at your request.

We definitely understand that this is an exciting time in a bride's life, and that every member of her crew is there to help.

In order for us to make this experience the best one possible, we encourage the bride's posse to sit back and relax.

There will be plenty of opportunities for the wedding party to take part in dress shopping- let us do the heavy lifting!

6. No Food Or Drink Please!

We allow capped water, of course, but please don’t expect to bring your Starbucks up to the bridal floor (coffee and white gowns don’t exactly mix).

That being said, food is also not allowed on the bridal floor for similar reasons.

Even dry food can leave crumbs that can ruin the bottoms of the gowns.

On the subject of alcohol:

Champagne is an excellent way to celebrate that “yes to the dress” moment, but many bridal stores will not allow alcohol on the premises.

The Bridal Event does not hold a liquor license, and the consumption of alcohol onsite is considered illegal.

If you do choose to bring alcohol into our building, we will kindly ask for it to be removed. If it persists, you will be asked to leave.

Like every business, there are rules and expectations that need to be followed.

If we both do our part, we're sure to have an amazing time together!

7. Come Prepared

Sometimes shopping for bridal gowns is a completely spontaneous decision, and the bride is wearing her bright blue underwear and a hot pink bra.

This is absolutely fine, and many stores will have some type of strapless bra to wear in case the bride finds her current bra distracting.

If this is a planned visit, wearing a strapless bra and neutral underwear might help the bride visualize what the gown will look like on the wedding day. (And all of the attention will be on the bride and her gown- and not the hot pink bra!)

On a side-note: please wear undergarments.

Not only are the gowns samples that have been tried on by more than one person, it saves the embarrassment of having to try on gowns with your consultant in the nude.

It also doesn't hurt to take a look around at some styles online before shopping. (Uhm, hello, Pinterest!)

If you have an idea of what you're looking for in a bridal gown, that's great! It helps move the process of elimination along until we narrow it down to the one that's perfect for you.

But if you feel you need a little more guidance, and you have no idea where to start- just stop in.

Our consultants are here to help you find a style unique to you!

8. Keep In Mind... It's All About The Bride

This final and incredibly important point goes out to not only the bride, but the bride’s crew as well.

The whole point of a wedding is to celebrate the bride and her partner's love and union. She will be the one in the dress!

So a good idea would be to keep your opinion in check with how it may come across to the bride.

If you don’t like the dress, but you can see that she is absolutely in love with it...

Step back and let her love the dress.

The same applies for the opposite scenario; if you love the dress, but the bride seems uncomfortable or upset, don’t pressure her to love it. It's not your day!

And to the bride: Be excited and keep a clear head.

There will be plenty of thoughts thrown your way (especially if your group is an opinionated one), but the one opinion that truly matters is yours.

It may be difficult to please everyone, but don’t forget you have a voice.

Remember- your consultant is always in your corner. We want this to be the best possible experience for you!

This week has a bit of a spin on it- instead of looking at bridal...

We'll be viewing some of our hottest looks for this prom season from beaded and sleek to short and fun!

Our designer this week is one that is fairly new to our store.

We met Nina Canacci at National Bridal Market in Chicago just this past Fall 2017.

We love their unique take on prom and special occasion designs.

Our first style is #136 in a size 8, modeled by one of our

tuxedo experts from The Formal Event.

Look at how flirty and fun this style is!

This delightful two piece has a solid black top with a black lace skirt adorned by embroidered flowers.

If you're looking for something completely unique for your prom, then this is it!

The next style is #2130 in a size 6 as modeled below.

This stunning halter-neck style is decorated with intricate, gold embroidery on the bodice that ends at the natural waist.

The navy skirt is made of a stretchy jersey-knit fabric for ultimate comfort to dance the night away!

This gown would be perfectly paired with some gold heels for some extra shine.

Moving onto our final look for this week, we have style #3131 in a size 4.

Talk about stunning the crowd! This gown wows in a dark burgundy color with a beaded bodice and illusion neckline.

This week we are so excited to showcase one of our favorite designers- Allure Bridal.

Allure also houses designs from Madison James, which is a collection of unique gowns for the unique bride. They provide a modern twist on classic bridal shapes.

This gown features layers of tulle to soften the sparkling glamour of the beaded, illusion bodice.

The illusion in the straps of the gown makes the lace appear as if it's floating, and we love the delicate vibe it's giving us.

Wow! We are loving the floating buttons down the back of this gown. The beaded lace catches the smallest glints of light and the illusion material is true to its name- we can't even tell that it's there!

The illusion and lace that leads down the front in a deep v-neck provides a subtle, sexy look while giving the feeling of all over coverage.

This gown is perfect for the bride who wants to feel Alluring (see what we did there?), but doesn't want to feel exposed.

The buttons all the way down the train is a signature mark from Allure as almost all of their gowns include them as a small detail that only adds to their beautiful designs.

Hello again as we dive back into our weekly feature: Gown Spotlight!

This week we'll be taking a peak at one of the more unique designers in our store. Ti Adora by Allison Webb is known for its boho-chic and beachy vibes.

This designer is perfect for the bride who is searching for an enchanted, soft look for their big day.

The specific style we will be looking at this week is style #7753.

Take a look at our adorable mannequin setup for this gown:

The embroidered Ivory lace on top of the Cashmere of the gown creates a soft, ethereal look that boho brides can't help but fall in love.

Ti Adora is the only designer in our store to use the color Cashmere!

This gown's shape is cut with a deep sweetheart neckline, sheer back, and a trumpet styled skirt cascading with soft English netting.

Style #7753 is traditional in shape, but it's definitely a standout in design!

This past weekend was jam-packed for The Bridal Event as we prepared to work the runway at the Visuelle Productions Spring 2018 Wedding Show.

We selected styles from our store to showcase for future brides-to-be at the Performing Arts Center in Appleton, WI on March 11th.

To kick off our very first week, we have a gown designed by Casablanca.Style #2315, Casablanca has donned this gown with the name "Tori".

"Tori" is a combination of unique elements rolled into one gorgeous gown. The gown's v-neck bodice is decorated with sophisticated and delicate beading, and a tiered, flowing skirt trimmed with horsehair tops off this whimsical look.

Casablanca says that "this is a gown for the bride who dreams of having it all within her wedding dress".

We couldn't agree more!

"Tori" is available in several different colors and a wide range of sizes that are perfect for any bride's wedding style. They are as follows:

This is one of our biggest FAQ's:

"Do I need an appointment?"

It's not an unusual question by any means. In fact, it's fairly standard for smaller bridal boutiques.

They traditionally have limited staff and store hours when it comes to shopping.

The Bridal Event differs in that we have made it our priority to give you any and all options when it comes to shopping for the gown of your dreams- right down to what time you'd like to shop with us.

This is the number one question we receive on a daily basis.

The answer is no: we are a walk-in only store.

And to be honest, it is truly the easiest way for us to operate as a larger bridal store.

Planning your wedding will be one of the most hectic, time-consuming things you will ever do, and the last thing we want to do is restrict that time you spend with us.

Keeping an appointment schedule limits how much time you have to shop on our bridal floor and find that one, special gown...

That is something we never want to have to do.

It may take trying 3 gowns, or it may take 30 to find the one that is perfect for you. That process is unique to each of our brides, and you'll never truly know what you'll need in order to say yes to that dress if you're restricted from finding it from the start.

This is a huge decision. Our brides deserve to be able to take their time and consider all of their options.

Our job is to not only help you feel beautiful in your gown, but to make sure you're excited from the day you say yes to the day you take that first step down the aisle.

That is our promise to you!
